My e-Eye

The letter “e” placed in front of a noun looks like fighting for the supremacy of “electronic”. 
Before that happen, it was an abbreviated way for me to refer to the following: 

• Emotion 

• Esoteric 

• Emphatic 
   

Put those in a blender and you will get closer to the way I observe a subject that interests me. 
The subject captures my emotion, like a love at first sight or an idea that intrigues me and gets my attention. 
The subject tells me that I should take the time to look and see deeper than the surface, to discover meanings hidden to the eye who lingers only a fraction of a second (as it’s very often a norm, these days). 
The subject suscitate  my participation, I try to step in the “shoes” of that event. 
 
I’m bewildered by the plethora of meaning a “simple” Japanese screen containing a hiragana, a bird, a leaf, or a cloud, can communicate.  
The Japanese culture, if I may give my view on her, developed to value simple things, transient qualities.  
For a culture that understands Paper like no other that I know of, my (art) books bought from Japan testify of this quality. Though all other high quality art books I have contain splendid reproductions, the Japanese ones become an Art object in itself. Everything counts, the size the weight, to feeling of the paper, when touched. 
 

This is just one example of how I started to understand needing an e-eye. 
The Unrealist paintings I make may not accurately represent the shape of the object/person observed, but try to recreate, first for myself, then for a possible viewer, an e-experience I had with that subject.
