Advancing Masked
There was a whole story in my mind when I designed and worked this statue.
Long story short, men cruising present a face often different from who they really are. It’s not always about deceiving, as some might think. It’s about the side they only show when they go on a hunt. That’s also part of who they are but it’s seldom let out. It therefore may look like a mask.
This guy is crawling, his left hand fingers are about to penetrate a “future” and open it for inspection.
And crawling is not a sign of submission, it’s how (big) cats advance during hunting.
The chain forming their spine, that comes out of their sex chachra, is the one that turns the wheels of their mind.
Pink Alabaster from a Greek mine. 36 cm long.
